Indian passenger car sales up 0.28% in Oct after 11 months of decline

After recording declines for 11 consecutive months, Indian passenger car sales registered a marginal rise of 0.28 percent year on year in October this year and totaled 284,223 units, according to data released by the Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Tuesday, November 12.

SIAM in a statement said that it expected the positive sentiment to continue in November and December and “slowly come out of the slowdown”.

However, sales of vehicles across all categories continued to record a decline, with sales in October this year recorded at 2,176,136 units, down 12.76 percent from the corresponding month of the previous year.
