Indian passenger car sales as denoted by dispatches from manufacturers to dealers have been estimated at 455,000 units in January 2026, a rise of 12.6 percent year on year, according to industry data released on Monday, February 2.
At the disaggregated level, most large passenger car makers also recorded robust sales growth during the month.
For example, the country’s large car maker in terms of market share, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), sold 275,000 units in January, a rise of 25 percent, while Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL) sold 59,107 units, a growth of 9.5 percent, both year on year.
Tata Motors Limited sold 70,222 units, a rise of 46 percent, and Mahindra & Mahindra reported sales of 63,510 units, up 25.4 percent over January 2025,
Toyota Kirloskar Motors Limited reported sales of 30,630 units, a growth of 17 percent, while Kia India sold 27,603 units, up 10 percent, year on year.
