Indian passenger car sales down 24% in September

Indian passenger car sales during September 2019 slumped 23.69 percent year on year, marking 11 consecutive month of declining sales, according to data released by Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) on Friday, October 11.

According to SIAM data, Indian passenger car manufacturers sold 223,317 passenger cars during September 2019, compared to 292,660 units during corresponding month of previous year.

Sales of commercial vehicles during September 2019 were recorded at 58,419 units, down 39 percent over corresponding month of previous year, according to a SIAM statement.

Aggregate vehicle sales across all categories of automobile during September 2019, was recorded at 2 million units, registering a decline of 22.41 percent over corresponding month of previous year, SIAM said.
