Indian passenger car makers continued to record sales growth in June this year, but the pace of the rise eased to single digits during the month, compared to robust double-digit growth achieved in May, a compilation of data released by the companies showed on Monday, July 3.
The largest passenger car maker in terms of market share, Maruti Suzuki India Limited (MSIL), reported sales, as denoted by despatches from factory to dealer, at 133,027 units in June, up 8.42 percent year on year.
The company had achieved a sales growth of 15.45 percent year on year in May this year.
The second-largest passenger car maker, Hyundai Motors India Limited (HMIL), reported sales of 65,601 units in June, up 5.21 percent year on year, compared to a rise of 16 percent achieved in May.
Tata Motors Limited reported passenger car sales of 47,235 units in June, up five percent over June 2022 but lower than six percent in May this year.
Honda Cars India achieved sales of 5,080 units in June, a decline of 35 percent year on year, compared to a decline of 43 percent in May this year.
