GSHI, Baotou sign jv for rods

Chinese General Steel Holdings Inc. (GSHI) and Baotou Iron and Steel (Group) Company (Baotou Steel) inked a principal agreement to set up a joint venture in northern China. According to the announcement from GSHI, the joint venture will construct a hot rolling facility in the Kun Du district, Baoutou City, Inner Mongolia to produce alloy rods, round bars, channels and I-beams. GSHI is a leading manufacturer of high quality hot-rolled steel sheets primarily for use in tractors, agricultural vehicles and other specialty vehicles with 250'000 tons of annual 0.7-2.0 mm hot rolled carbon steel sheet production capacity. Baotou Steel, is one of the first ten largest iron and steel producers in China.
