Global DRI output stable in August compared to July

According to the data released by the World Steel Association (worldsteel), global direct reduced iron (DRI) production in the 14 countries accounting for approximately 87 percent of total world DRI production in 2013 amounted to 4.41 million metric tons in August this year, decreasing by 5.7 percent year on year and remaining stable month on month. 
 
Meanwhile, world DRI output came to 34.93 million metric tons in the January-August period of this year, decreasing by 12.7 percent compared to the corresponding period of 2015.
 
The worldsteel data show that Iran was the largest DRI producer among the countries surveyed in August this year. Iran’s DRI output was 1.25 million metric tons in the given month. Iran was followed by India, Saudi Arabia and Mexico in August, with estimated outputs of 1.23 million mt, 420,000 mt and 415,000 mt respectively.
