Georgia’s steel bar imports from Turkey increase in Q1 2026

In the January-March period this year, Georgia's total external trade turnover with Turkey, which is the top trading partner of the country, amounted to $802.1 million, including imports worth $657.32 million, up 9.2 percent, and exports worth $144.81 million, increasing 90.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis, according to the preliminary data provided by the National Statistics Office of Georgia (Geostat).

In the first three months, Georgia's imports of bars and rods of iron or non-alloy steel from Turkey amounted to 59,301 mt, compared to 15,442 mt in the corresponding period last year. Meanwhile, the value of these imports totaled $35.33 million, rising compared to $9.19 million in the January-March period of 2025.
