According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Union, in June this year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-27) decreased by 0.6 percent compared to May this year and remained unchanged compared to the same month of 2022. In May, production in the construction sector had moved up by 0.3 percent month on month.
In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in June also went down by 1.0 percent month on month and 0.3 percent year on year. In May, production had increased by 0.2 percent month on month.
Building construction in the EU-27 in June moved down by 0.9 percent month on month and down by 1.0 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region increased by 0.5 percent month on month and by 4.6 percent year on year. In the euro area, building construction was down by 1.2 percent month on month and moved down by 1.0 percent year on year, while civil engineering output in the region decreased by 0.2 percent month on month and increased by 3.8 percent year on year.
As compared to June 2022, construction output in June this year increased by 24.9 percent in Slovenia, by 15.3 percent in Romania, and by 9.5 percent in Spain, while it decreased by 5.2 percent in Finland, by 3.9 percent in Hungary, and by 3.3 percent in Austria.
As compared to May, construction output in June this year increased by 3.6 percent in Romania, by 3.0 percent in Sweden, and by 2.5 percent in Czechia, while it decreased by 2.8 percent in Germany, by 2.5 percent in France, and by 1.4 percent in Hungary and Slovakia.
