Essar Steel posts 40 percent increase in crude steel production in Q1, FY 2011-12

On July 19, fully integrated flat carbon steel manufacturer India-based Essar Steel announced production results for April-June quarter of 2011-12 financial year. Essar reported a 40 percent increase in its crude steel production in the first quarter compared to the same quarter of the previous financial year. The company produced 1.14 million mt crude steel in the given period.

Essar stated that it also increased its flat rolled production by 35.44 percent to 1.07 million mt during first quarter of 2011-12 compared to the same period of the previous year.
 
According to the company statement, Essar is about to complete the expansion of steel making capacity to 10 million mt per year.
