Colombian iron and steel exports down 0.2 percent in 2016

In 2016, Colombia exported 127,741 mt of ferronickel, down 0.7 percent, with a value of $327.76 million, decreasing by 23.7 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In December last year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 8,834 mt, falling by 23.9 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $28.67 million, up 2.3 percent, both compared to December 2015.
 
In 2016, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 192,761 mt, down 0.2 percent, with a value of $409.33 million, declining by 21.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In December last year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 14,504 mt, decreasing by 17.9 percent, and were worth $37.89 million, up 7.7 percent, both compared to the same month of 2015.
