Colombian iron and steel export volume up 53.5 percent in Jan-May

In the January-May period of this year, Colombia exported 57,131 mt of ferronickel, up 59.6 percent, with a value of $230.33 million, increasing by 103.9 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In May this year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 16,077 mt, falling by 19.1 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $70.5 million, up 12.8 percent, both compared to May 2017.

In the January-May period of 2018, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 108,982 mt, up 53.5 percent, with a value of $316.86 million, rising by 96.7 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In May, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 28,300 mt, increasing by 6.4 percent, and were worth $91 million, up 27 percent, both compared to the same month of 2017.
