Colombian iron and steel export volume up 14.8 percent in 2018

In 2018, Colombia exported 131,776 mt of ferronickel, up 18.8 percent, with a value of $558.5 million, increasing by 54.9 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In December last year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 12,691 mt, rising by 40.7 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $48.7 million, up 46.4 percent, both compared to December 2017.

In the given year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 229,603 mt, up 14.8 percent, with a value of $735.2 million, rising by 49.5 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In December, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 15,971 mt, rising by 6.2 percent, and were worth $57.23 million, up 33.1 percent, both compared to the same month of 2017.
