Colombian iron and steel export volume down 9.8 percent in 2019

In 2019, Colombia exported 139,220 mt of ferronickel, up 5.6 percent, with a value of $545.02 million, decreasing by 2.4 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In December last year, the country's ferronickel exports amounted to 17,976 mt, rising by 41.6 percent, while the revenue from these exports was $81.23 million, up 66.9 percent, both compared to December 2018.

In the given year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 207,209 mt, down 9.8 percent, with a value of $688.97 million, falling by 6.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In December last year, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 27,696 mt, rising by 73.4 percent, and were worth $94.28 million, up 64.8 percent, both compared to the same month of 2018.
