In the first quarter of this year, Colombia exported 24,179 mt of ferronickel, down 29.9 percent, with a value of $90.07 million, falling by 24.7 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In March, Colombian ferronickel exports amounted to 13,499 mt, declining by 19.5 percent and were worth $49.45 million, decreasing by 11.8 percent, both year on year.
In the January-March period this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 44,990 mt, down 15.9 percent, with a value of $131.29 million, falling by 13.3 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In March, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 19,925 mt, decreasing by 17.5 percent, and were worth $64.8 million, down 5.6 percent, both compared to the same month of 2019.
