Colombian iron and steel export volume down 14.7 percent in Jan-May

In the January-May period this year, Colombia exported 46,649 mt of ferronickel, down 12.5 percent, with a value of $161.82 million, falling by 13.3 percent, both year on year, as announced by the Colombian National Administrative Department of Statistics (DANE). In May, Colombian ferronickel exports amounted to 10,629 mt, rising by 516.4 percent, and were worth $30.94 million, increasing by 349.6 percent, both year on year.

In the first five months of this year, Colombia's iron and steel export volume totaled 71,171 mt, falling by 14.7 percent, with a value of $209.13 million, down by 14.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis. In May, Colombian iron and steel exports amounted to 11,924 mt, up by 32.7 percent, and were worth $33.79 million, rising by 54 percent, both compared to the same month of 2019.
