Russia-based steel pipe producer ChTPZ Group has stated that it has dispatched four pipes of 1,420 mm diameter with wall thickness of 21.7 mm, with external and internal anti-corrosion coating, made of MMK's sheet steel of K60 grade for the welding of the first joint of Russian state monopoly Gazprom's "Power of Siberia" gas pipeline project.

ChTPZ's large diameter (LD) pipes meet the highest standards and requirements of customers and can be used for the construction of main gas pipelines which cross areas of active tectonic faults, as confirmed by certification of Gazprom VNIIGAZ.

Moreover, the company plans to ship more than 30,000 mt of LD pipes in July-August this year to Gazprom for the construction of the gas pipeline project, according to the tender won in June 2013. The large diameter pipes will be manufactured at the workshop Vysota 239 of ChTPZ from steel plates from Magnitogorsk Iron and Steel (MMK).

The total length of the Power Siberia gas pipeline will be about 4,000 km, which would require at least 2.6 million metric tons of LD pipes. This means that Russian pipe companies together can claim for contracts to the amount of $5.7 billion.
