In May this year, China’s stainless steel imports amounted to 174,400 mt, down 10.14 percent month on month, while up 23.05 percent year on year, according to China’s customs authorities.
In May, China’s stainless steel exports totaled 457,700 mt, up 16.56 percent month on month, while rising by 29.99 percent year on year.
In the January-May period this year, China’s stainless steel imports and exports amounted to 976,600 mt and 1.912 million mt, up 34.75 percent and 12.77 percent year on year, respectively.
In May, China’s net export volume of stainless steel amounted to 84,700 mt, up 42.65 percent month on month, while increasing by 34.65 percent year on year. In the first five months this year, China’s net export volume of stainless steel totaled 935,500 mt, down 3.64 percent year on year.
In May, China’s stainless steel scrap imports amounted to 10,050 mt, up 19.45 percent month on month, while decreasing by 60.59 percent year on year. In the January-May period this year, China’s stainless steel scrap imports totaled 48,200 mt, down 71.02 percent year on year.
