Canadian rig count declines again while US count continues to rise

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending April 7, the US rotary rig count increased by 15 to 839 following a 15-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by five to 165, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 672. The overall rig count is now up by 396 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 23 to 132 rigs in the week ending April 7, following a 30-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by only 41 rigs from the same week a year ago.
