Canadian rig count continues to drop while US count rises again

Baker Hughes has reported that for the week ending March 31 the US rotary rig count increased by 15 to 824 following a 20-rig increase the week before. The number of rigs drilling for gas increased by five to 160, while the number of rigs drilling for oil increased by 10 to 662. The overall rig count is now up by 374 rigs in a year-on-year comparison.
 
Meanwhile, the Canadian rig count dropped by 30 to 155 rigs in the week ending March 31, following a 91-rig decrease the week before. The Canadian rig count is now up by only 106 rigs from the same week a year ago.
