In the January-April period this year, production and sales of new energy vehicles (NEVs) in China amounted to 4.285 million units and 4.304 million units, down 3.2 percent and up 0.1 percent year on year, respectively, according to the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers (CAAM).
In April alone, production and sales of new energy vehicles in China amounted to 1.32 million units and 1.344 million units, up 5.5 percent and 9.7 percent year on year, while rising by 7.2 percent and 7.3 percent month on month.
In April, China’s new energy vehicle exports totaled 430,000 units, up 1.1-fold year on year.
In the first four months this year, China’s new energy vehicle exports amounted to 1.384 million units, up 1.2-fold year on year.
In April, China’s new energy vehicle sales to the domestic market amounted to 914,000 units, up 3.7 percent month on month, while down 10.8 percent year on year.
In the first four months this year, China’s new energy vehicle sales to the domestic market totaled 2.92 million units, down 20.2 percent year on year.
NEV exports indicated a strong rise in the first four months, exerting a positive impact on the sales of NEVs in the given period. However, NEV sales to the domestic market declined by 20.2 percent in the January-April period, signaling that the domestic market is still awaiting policy stimulus measures.
