Byelorussia ups ferrous production

According to the Byelorussia's Ministry of Statistics and Analytics, the production of the country's ferrous smelters increased 8.9 percent to RUB 2.2 trillion ($77 million) in the first ten months of 2005, as compared to the first ten months of 2004. Ferrous rolling production also increased 109.9 percent to 1'670'900 tons in the first ten months of 2005 against the corresponding period of 2004. In the subject period, the country's steel production amounted to 1'778'400 tons, up 108.1 percent against Jan-Oct period of 2004. Standard wire output and steel wire output increased 126.1 percent and 110.5 percent to 118'400 tons and 56'100 tons, respectively. On the other hand, steel pipe production declined 91.1 percent to 86'800 tons in the first ten months of 2005, against the same period of previous year.
