Brazil's rebar producers under anti-trust control

Brazil's local rebar producers Gerdau, Belgo Mineira and Barra Mansa have been requested by the country's anti-trust body SDE to present the dates and amounts of prices increases applied. The information requested will be presented to the consumer defence council in Brazil. The action that the anti-trust body takes also prohibits the circulation of price lists and information on future price increases with the purpose of avoiding illegal cooperation of the producers. The suspicion arose from the simultaneous price increases effected by these producers recently, based on the data submitted by the steel distributors association.
