Brazil exported 23,000 mt of steel plate in June, against 2,500 mt in May, according to customs data.
The increase reflects chiefly the resumption of exports to Argentina, likely destined for use in additional stretches of the Nestor Kirschner pipeline.
The exports of June were destined to South American countries (17,700 mt at $1,200/mt) and to the US (5,500 mt at $1,100/mt), FOB conditions.
The exporters were Gerdau (13,300 mt at $1,150/mt), Usiminas (8,900 mt at $1,254/mt) ArcelorMittal (700 mt at $718/mt), and traders (100 mt at $1,137/mt), all FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in June 1,300 mt of plate against 2,800 mt in May. The imports were from European countries (800 mt at $1,861/mt), China (400 mt at $679/mt) and Hong Kong (100 mt at $888/mt), also FOB conditions.
