Brazilian heavy plate exports increase in October

Brazil exported 18,900 mt of heavy plate in October, against 12,700 mt in September, according to customs data.

The exports of September were destined to South America (15,200 mt, of which 14,500 mt at $1,236/mt to Argentina), Mexico (3,600 mt at $767/mt) and Egypt (100 mt at $342/mt), the latter certainly not a market price.

The exporters were Gerdau (18,000 mt at $1,112/mt) and Usiminas (900 mt at $1,464/mt), FOB.

Meanwhile, Brazil imported 2,600 mt of plates in October, against 6,100 mt in September. The imports were from Asia (2,400 mt, of which 2,300 mt at $973/mt from China) and Europe (200 mt at $1,946/mt) also FOB conditions.
