Brazil exported 2,500 mt of steel plate in May, against 8,800 mt in April, according to customs data.
The decline reflects chiefly the conclusion of shipments to Argentina, destined to integrate the Nestor Kirshner pipeline, manufactured by Tenaris with plates produced by Usiminas.
The exports in May were destined to South American countries (2,300 mt at $1,296/mt) and to Trinidad and Tobago (200 mt at $733/mt), FOB conditions.
The exporters were Usiminas (1,200 mt at $1,721/mt), Gerdau (1,000 mt at $799/mt), ArcelorMittal (200 mt at $743/mt), and traders (100 mt at $1,116/mt), all FOB conditions.
Meanwhile, Brazil imported in May 2,800 mt of plate, against 22,800 mt in April. The imports were from European countries (2,100 mt at $1,403/mt) and Asia (700 mt at $1,053/mt), also FOB conditions.
