Brazilian plate exports decline in September

Brazil exported 12,700 mt of steel plate in September, against 14,600 mt in August, according to customs data.

The exports in August were destined to Europe (3,800 mt at $714/mt), Mexico (2,600 mt at $815/mt), the US (2,500 mt at $1,116/mt), South American countries (2,200 mt at $1,108/mt) and Pakistan (1,600 mt at $336/mt), FOB conditions, the latter certainly not a market price.

The exporters were Gerdau (6,400 mt at $754/mt), Usiminas (5,600 mt at $958/mt) and ArcelorMittal (700 mt at $596/mt).

Meanwhile, Brazil imported 6,100 mt of heavy plate in September, against August 1,700 mt in August.  The imports were from China (3,800 mt at $1,008/mt) and European countries (2,300 mt at $1,190/mt), also FOB conditions.
