Turkey-based steel pipe producer Borusan Mannesmann Boru has announced suspensions of production activities within the scope of measures taken to prevent the spread of the coronavirus.
Borusan Mannesmann stated that in Turkey it has halted production operations at its spirally-welded pipe mill in Gemlik from April 1 to April 13, while it will suspend its pipe mill in Halkali, İstanbul, starting from today, April 3, for a period of 10 days. The company will continue production at its other mills in Gemlik.
The steel pipe producer had also stopped production activities at the BM Vobarno mill located in Italy on March 13 as a precaution before the Italian government issued measures halting production activities in the country. The Italian mill will resume operations depending on the decision of Italian government and the slowdown of the spread of the coronavirus.
Besides, the company’s BM Pipe US mill in Houston, Texas, continues to operate with minimum staff and an alternate production model due to its having a strategic importance within the framework of US laws, while taking all required measures to prevent the spread of the coronavirus outbreak.
