ArcelorMittal Poland, a subsidiary of Luxembourg-based steel producer ArcelorMittal, has announced that it will modernize blast furnace No. 2 at its Dąbrowa Górnicza plant at the end of March. The company’s preparations for the shutdown of the furnace had begun in January, as SteelOrbis previously reported.

The project, which will cost over PLN 720 million ($166.54 million), will be the company’s largest single investment project since the construction of its hot strip mill in Kraków, SteelOrbis understands.

As a result of the modernization works, the plant’s efficiency will increase and carbon emissions will be reduced.
