According to US preliminary census data, US annual steel imports in 2016 totaled 29,945,177 mt, a 7.7 percent decrease from the 2015 US steel import total of 35,143,597 mt. By value, US steel imports in 2016 totaled $22.2 billion, compared to $30.2 billion in 2015.
