United Steelworkers of America Local 1915 (USW) Union workers at AK Tube LLC located in Walbridge, Ohio, a subsidiary of West Chester, Ohio-based flat rolled steel producer AK Steel have ratified a new three-year labor agreement with the steelmaker.

The agreement will replace the contract dated to expire on January, 25 and cover about 100 hourly production and maintenance employees at the Northwest Ohio plant.

According to the terms of agreement, the first year of the contract includes a freeze on wage increases, while the wage increases have been included for the second and third years of the contract. The agreement also includes significant workforce flexibility and health care cost-sharing provisions.

"We are pleased that members of Local 1915 have ratified a new, cost competitive labor agreement at our Walbridge tube plant. This agreement addresses costs and other concerns that our company faces in today's challenging market conditions," said James L. Wainscott, chairman, president and CEO of AK Steel.
