US line pipe prices trend steady despite dipping demand

US domestic line pipe prices have remained stable week-on-week, with API X-52 still offered in the range of $65-$67 cwt. ($1433-$1477/mt or $1300-$1340/nt), ex-mill. However, sources tell SteelOrbis that demand has “softened somewhat” due to customers placing large orders right after Section 232 tariffs were announced—major stock-ups have led to fewer orders in the last few months.

Import pricing for line pipe is also relatively stable, with import offers in the US market from Korea and Taiwan still trending at $66-$68 cwt. ($1455-$1499/mt or $1320-$1360/nt), DDP loaded truck in US Gulf coast ports.

While some sources said last week that they were still trying to “sort out” the recent developments in trade talks between the US and Mexico, there has been no change in clarity since then. Sources say for now, import offers for line pipe from Mexico are too high, coming in above US domestic mill offers.
