Welded pipe prices have remained stable in Turkey over the past week, though some sources say discounts are possible. In addition, flats prices in the country may soften in the near future, following the decline in the import scrap segment.
Currently, ex-Turkey welded pipe prices are at $530-540/mt FOB, with most offers heard for March shipments. However, according to sources, some large mills have already filled their order books and may be pushing for $540-550/mt FOB for closer shipments. Domestic welded pipe prices in Turkey have remained at $530-540/mt ex-works as well. Discounts of $15/mt are reportedly possible for both local and export buyers depending on the supplier’s position.
Some sources say that local demand is somewhat weaker these days as buyers fear a further downturn in scrap. At the same time, mills prefer to keep their pipe offers relatively stable as hot rolled coil offers have not yet moved down. However, some players expect a downtrend in the flats segment which will affect pipe offers, SteelOrbis understands.
** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
