Welded pipe prices in Turkey have remained stable over the past week, though sentiment has been weak. As import scrap prices have indicated a significant decline in the most recent sale, market sources expect this may have a negative effect on the flats segment, and so prices for welded pipes may weaken as well.
Currently, welded pipe prices ex-Turkey are at $530-540/mt FOB, with most offers for end-of-February and early March shipments. However, according to sources, some mills have sold at $540-550/mt FOB for shipments at a nearer date. Turkey’s domestic welded pipe prices have also remained stable, at $530-540/mt ex-works, the same level as export offers. Some $10/mt discounts are being granted for large orders both in the domestic and export markets, SteelOrbis understands. Overall, Turkish producers are expected to maintain their price positions unless there is some downturn in the hot rolled coil segment.
** Prices are given for ERW pipes and hollow sections with 2-4 mm wall thickness made from HRC of S235 grade as per EN 10219, on theoretical weight basis.
