Seamless pipe demand in Spain remains slack due to low buying activity of end consumers ahead of the summer holiday season. Domestic and export quotations of Spanish seamless pipes have declined by €20-50/mt ($25-61/mt) over the past month. Meanwhile, prices offered from China have decreased by a maximum of €20/mt ($25/mt) over the past month, while quotations of Ukrainian material have stayed unchanged. At the same time, import prices for Italian seamless pipes have moved down by a minimum of €50/mt ($61/mt) over the period under review. Meanwhile, Spanish buyers are not very interested in imported seamless pipes. Market insiders believe the market sentiment is unlikely to improve before early September as the traditional holiday season will start in Spain soon. However, seamless pipe suppliers hope to keep their official prices stable in the short term, while buyers think that it is possible to obtain discounts.
Current Spanish domestic prices for 2"-4" hot-formed seamless pipes, grade B made to ASTM A106, are at around €1,100-1,150/mt ($1,350-1,411/mt) ex-works, while 6"-10" pipes are at €1,180-1,250/mt ($1,448-1,534/mt) ex-works.
Current export prices of Spanish seamless pipes, 2"-4" grade B according to ASTM A53, are varying at around €1,135-1,185/mt ($1,393-1,455/mt) FOB, while 6"-10" seamless pipes are at €1,220-1,290/mt ($1,497-1,583/mt) FOB.
Prices for Chinese seamless pipes, 2"-6" grade B made to ASTM A106/API 5L, are at about €800-860/mt ($982-1,055/mt) CFR Spain, exclusive of antidumping duties (in the range of 17.7-39.2 percent depending on the producer).
Offers of August production Ukrainian seamless pipes with 42-168 mm diameter of 10, 20 steel grade made to GOST 8731/8732 from Interpipe are being given to Spain at €920-950/mt ($1,129-1,166/mt) CPT. Prices are shown exclusive of 17.7 percent antidumping duty. Quotations of seamless pipes from another Ukrainian producer Dniepropetrovsk Tube Works are at about €950-960/mt ($1,166-1,178/mt) CPT, excluding 12 percent of antidumping tax.
Quotations of Italian seamless pipes, 8"-10" grade B made to ASTM A106, to Spain are at €1,250-1,300/mt ($1,534-1,595/mt) CPT.
