Over the past week, Turkish merchant bar export prices have fall on average by $15/mt to $670-700/mt FOB for May shipment, against the backdrop of the negative sentiment in the import scrap and billet segment. A few enquiries have been received from the Balkan region and the workable merchant bar price to the Balkans may be at $660-680/mt FOB, SteelOrbis has heard. “Demand from Latin American buyers is sluggish these days,” another source mentioned.
Most merchant bar suppliers are seeking to quote on ex-works basis instead of FOB basis in order to be on the safe side in terms of logistics these days. The Turkish billet export CFR-based daily reference price currently stands at $560-570/mt, versus $565-580/mt last week.
