The reference price for the export of rebars by Brazilian producers is $890/mt against $870/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In February, Brazil exported 39,000 mt and imported 37,400 mt of rebars against respectively 22,200 mt and 34,600 mt in January, according to Secex.
The exports of February were destined to South American countries (34,200 mt at $675/mt) and to the US (4,800 mt at $602/mt), shipped by Gerdau (26,400 mt at $639/mt) and ArcelorMittal (12,600 mt at $722/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Egypt (37,200 mt at $570/mt) and Germany (200 mt at $1,612/mt, certainly not a market price, also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebars are offered by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 6,250/mt ($1,091/mt) against BRL 6,100/mt four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s southeast and south regions.
