The reference price for the export of rebars by Brazilian producers is $860/mt against $870/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
According to SECEX, Brazil exported 29,500 mt and imported 10,200 mt of rebar in May, compared to 27,700 mt and 12,100 mt, respectively, in April.
All of Brazil’s May exports were all destined for South American countries and were shipped by ArcelorMittal (23,100 mt at $722/mt) and Gerdau (6,400 mt at $586/mt), FOB conditions.
Imports came from Egypt (9,300 mt at $577/mt), Russia (700 mt at $539/mt), and Germany (100 mt at $1,694/mt), with a small volume imported from China under the same conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, producers are offering rebars in medium to large volumes at BRL 6,100/mt ($1,109/mt), down from BRL 6,200/mt four weeks ago. This price is ex-works and includes all taxes except IPI for supply in the southeast and south regions of the country.
