The reference price for the export of rebars by Brazilian producers is $925/mt against $900/mt four weeks ago, CFR conditions for the CA-50 grade, for sales to South American countries.
In September, Brazil exported 35,300 mt and imported 39,600 mt of rebars against respectively 11,900 mt and 26,400 mt in August.
The exports of September were all destined to South American countries, shipped by ArcelorMittal (19,800 mt at $688/mt) and Gerdau (15,500 mt at $616/mt), FOB conditions.
The imports were from Egypt (20,900 mt at $587/mt), Peru (18,600 mt at $660/mt), and Germany (100 mt at $1,614/mt), also FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, rebars are offered by producers, in medium to large volumes, at BRL 6,200/mt ($1,082/mt), against BRL 5,800/mt four weeks ago, ex-works, full taxes except IPI, for the supply in the country’s southeast and south regions.
An increase in rebar imports in September was expected and could remain for the next months, as the product is not subject to the limiting quotas recently adopted by the foreign trade authorities.
