Brazil exported 33,600 mt of wire rod in October, 1.7 percent less than in September, according to the country’s ministry of industry, foreign trade and services, MDIC.
The average price, reduced by 9.3 percent to $483/mt, points to the mesh grade exported at $460/mt, while the drawing grade was exported at $536/mt, all FOB conditions with price deals probably closed in August.
The main destinations were Latin America (19,300 mt at $471/mt), the Caribbean (6,500 mt at $450/mt), the EU (4,800 mt at $517/mt) and the US (2,900 mt at $583/mt), all FOB conditions.
The exporters were Gerdau (26,100 mt at $486/mt) and ArcelorMittal (7,500 mt at $490/mt), both FOB conditions.
According to a local exporter, the most recent export deals for wire rod of the mesh grade are being closed in a price range of $600/mt to $610/mt, FOB conditions, against $630/mt two weeks ago.
