The reference price for hot dip galvanized products (HDG) exported from Brazil to South American countries is $880/mt today, June 16, compared to $890/mt four weeks ago under CFR conditions. The reference product is G40 grade with a thickness of 4.75 mm.
According to SECEX, Brazil exported 9,600 mt and imported 47,100 mt of HDG in May, compared to 11,200 mt and 43,200 mt, respectively, in April.
All of Brazil's May exports were destined for South American countries and were shipped by Usiminas (7,300 mt at $1,273/mt) and ArcelorMittal (2,300 mt at $1,562/mt).
Imports came from Asia (46,800 mt, 35,600 mt of which came from China at $599/mt) and Europe (300 mt at $1,226/mt) under FOB conditions.
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG producers currently sell medium to large volumes to end users or distributors at BRL 6,100/mt ($1,109/mt), down from BRL 6,250/mt one month ago. This price is ex-works and includes all taxes except IPI.
