In March, Brazil exported 10,300 metric tons (mt) of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG), while importing 67,800 mt of the product, against respectively 12,400 mt and 99,600 mt in February, according to Secex, the country`s foreign trade secretariat of the ministry of development, industry and foreign trade.
The exports of February were all destined to Argentina, shipped by ArcelorMittal (7,100 mt at $1,508/mt) and Usiminas (3,200 mt at $1,174/mt), both FOB conditions.
The imports came from Asia (67,600 mt, of which 64,500 mt was priced at $580/mt from China), and Italy, (200 mt at $1,697/mt), also FOB conditions.
March exports were low, like February, with no shipments to the US, unlike January's 30,900 mt.
The reduced imports reflect lower shipments from China, affected by antidumping duties imposed by Brazilian authorities.
According to sources, such imports should be further reduced throughout the next months.
