No demand recovery yet in Chinese domestic CRC market

During the week ending March 25, prices in the Chinese domestic cold rolled coil (CRC) market have indicated a downward trend, while transaction activity in the market has remained at low levels. Average CRC prices in the local Chinese market can be viewed in the SteelOrbis price reports section.

During the given week, CRC prices in most regions of China have followed a declining trend. After Baosteel issued its CRC prices for April delivery in mid-March, decreasing its CRC prices by RMB 100/mt ($16/mt), market participants have mostly been pessimistic as regards the future prospects for the market. Although semi-finished steel prices have moved on a rising trend in the given week, CRC prices have not yet been affected due to sluggish demand from downstream users. It is expected that CRC prices in the Chinese domestic market will follow a slight up in the coming week as purchasing activity will recover gradually.
