A source linked to a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that the reference price for the export of hot dipped galvanized products (HDG) to the US is currently $920/mt, FOB conditions, having the G40 grade and 4.75mm thickness product as reference. The reference price is the same over the last four weeks.
A second source, also linked to a producer, mentioned $850/mt, FOB conditions, for HDG exports to destinations other than the US.
In February, Brazil exported 29,900 mt of HDG, in average at $933/mt, FOB conditions. CSN exported 21,000 mt at $$931/mt, while Usiminas exported 8,900 mt at $936/mt, all FOB conditions. The main destinations were the US (20,800 mt at $932/mt FOB) and Argentina (8,900 mt at $936/mt FOB).
In the Brazilian domestic market, HDG is sold today by distributors, in small volumes, at BRL 5,050/mt ($1,307/mt), ex-works, full taxes except IPI, having the Z-100, 1.11mm thickness product as reference, stable in BRL terms over the last four weeks. Larger volumes or direct sales by steel producers are usually entitled to discounts.
In February, Brazil imported 31,400 mt of HDG, of which 28,000 mt from China at $716/mt, 2,507 mt from South Korea at $879/mt, and 400 mt from Taiwan at $919/mt, all FOB conditions.
The last offer of HDG received by a Brazilian importer from China was priced at $710/mt, CFR conditions to a port in the south or southeast coast of Brazil, with the Z100/SGCC grade as reference, stable over four weeks.
