A source from a Brazilian producer told SteelOrbis that Galvalume exports to the US are currently negotiated at $930/mt, against $940/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions for the AZ-150 product.
A second local source mentioned a reference of $860/mt, against $910/mt two weeks ago, FOB conditions, for sales to non-US destinations, but it is not clear if the product is from independent producers or from CSN or ArcelorMittal, the only companies licensed by BIEC to produce Galvalume in Brazil.
According to the source, the reduced domestic demand and a recent devaluation trend of the BRL are paving the way for increased Galvalume exports, along with exports of other flat steel products.
In March no Galvalume exports were registered by the Brazilian customs authorities, while Brazil imported 16,400 mt of Galvalume from China in March at $757/mt, FOB conditions, plus negligible volumes of the product from Italy and South Korea.
