On March 7, Switzerland-based diversified mining giant Xstrata plc (Xstrata) announced that Willy Strothotte will retire from the company board as chairman and non-executive director at the conclusion of the annual general meeting (AGM) on May 4, 2011.
According to a company release, Sir John Bond will join the board as a consultant with immediate effect and will be appointed chairman from the conclusion of the AGM, subject to shareholder election. Sir John is currently chairman of British communication giant Vodafone Group Plc and will step down from the Vodafone board on 26 July 2011.
