Hunan Province-based Chinese steel producer Xinye Steel Corporation (Xinye Steel) has only exported almost 1,000 mt of steel pipes in the first half of 2010, indicating a significant shrinkage in the company's exports of its main product.

The decrease in pipe exports has been mainly due to overseas antidumping and countervailing duties against pipe products from China. In October 2009, the European Commission announced the imposition of a 27.2 percent antidumping duty on pipe imports from Xinye Steel.

In 2007 and 2008, Xinye Steel's pipe exports respectively totaled 81,000 mt and 51,000 mt. However, the figure dropped to just 4,000 mt in 2009.
