Global crude steel production in December last year decreased by 5.7 percent year on year to 126.73 million metric tons, according to the World Steel Association (worldsteel).
In 2015, global crude steel production declined to 1.6 billion mt, down 2.9 percent year on year.
In 2015, crude steel output in China amounted to 803.8 million mt down by 2.3 percent, 105.2 million mt produced by Japan, down five percent, 89.6 million mt produced by India, increasing by 2.6 percent, and 69.7 million mt produced by South Korea, down by 2.6 percent - with all comparisons on year-on-year basis.
In 2015, Germany's output was 42.68 million mt, declining by 0.6 percent year on year, Italy's crude steel output was 22.02 million mt, down 7.1 percent year on year, and France's crude steel output amounted to 14.98 million mt, decreasing by 7.2 percent year on year.
Turkey produced 31.52 million metric tons of crude steel in 2015, with a 7.4 percent decrease from 2014. Iran's crude steel production in the given year amounted to 16.11 million mt, down 1.4 percent year on year. In 2015, Russia produced 71.11 million mt, down by 0.5 percent year on year, and Ukraine produced 22.93 million mt, declining 15.6 percent, both on year-on-year basis.
In 2015, crude steel output in the US totaled 78.92 million mt, down by 10.5 percent, while Mexico produced 18.26 million mt of crude steel, down 3.9 percent, both on year-on-year basis. Crude steel output in Brazil in 2015 amounted to 33.25 million mt, down 1.9 percent year on year.
