Peruvian mining union Federacion Nacional de Trabajadores Mineros Metalurgicos y Siderurgicos del Peru (FNTMMSP) told SteelOrbis on Thursday that workers at the country’s only iron ore producer, Shougang Hierro Peru, will go on a strike on October 9 for an “indefinite period of time” if their demand for better wages is not met.

“If there’s no solution for our claims by then, we’ll go on a strike,” the union said in statement earlier this week at its website.
