According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of tin plate totaled 58,783 mt in January this year, down 25.9 percent from December and down 41.9 percent year on year. By value, tin plate imports totaled $77.43 million in January this year compared to $96.88 million in December and $146.64 million in January 2025.
The US imported the most tin plate from Taiwan in January with 21,326 mt compared to 12,343 mt in December and 9,484 mt in January 2025. Other top sources of imported tin plate in January include the Netherlands with 9,579 mt, South Korea with 7,818 mt, Canada with 7,047 mt, Spain with 4,549 mt, and China with 3,866 mt.
