According to preliminary census data from the US Department of Commerce, US imports of standard pipe totaled 61,479 mt in May 2020, up 43.7 percent from April and up 5.2 percent from May 2019 levels. By value, standard pipe imports totaled $51.9 million in May 2020, compared to $39.2 million in the previous month and $59.2 million in the same month last year.
The US imported the most standard pipe from Thailand in May, with 16,873 mt, compared to 5,003 mt in April and 286 mt in May 2019. Other top sources of imported standard pipe in May include Canada, with 8,975 mt; UAE, with 8,408 mt; Korea, with 7,385 mt; and Vietnam, with 3,951 mt.
